North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation offers activities, festivals, concerts and so much more. Not only are the activities for area locals, North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation welcomes visitors as well. There are seven parks, most with playgrounds, located throughout North Myrtle Beach. They offer a number of adult fitness and special interest classes, as well as classes for youths.

Not to be out done by the rest of the Grand Strand, North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation plays host a number of holiday festivals and special events throughout the year. Some of their special events include a 9-11 candlelight vigil to commemorate loved ones lost on that day. They host three marathons during the year. They end the year with the Barefoot Landing 5K just after Christmas. Followed by the Winter Run 5K and 15K, 2010 marks the 27th anniversary of the run. Then St. Patrick’s 5K and 10K Road Race is held in March; both tracks are certified by the USA Track and Field.

The beginning of December marks the Christmas festivities in North Myrtle Beach starting at McLean Park where Santa arrives in time to light the large City Christmas Tree. This is just the beginning of celebrating the holidays North Myrtle Beach style.
